Hello.

I live in Chicago but my health does not allow me to visit the local go clubs. I play on KGS under the names calm and RabidKyu.

I initially took up go around 1978-1979, when I started to dislike chess. I gave it up due to the demands of an adult life, but in the last few years I developed severe health problems, including some cognitive problems. On the cognitive side I mainly have problems staying patient and
keeping focus. I took up go again as "mental therapy".

I have degrees in math ( specialization in topology and geometry ) and physics ( theoretical physics ). After college I went tyo work as a computer programmer until my health failed.
I also am hold the rank of shodan in Aikido.

Needless to say one thing I am good at is learning new things and reaching a level of competence in them. I hope to apply some of these technique to Go in this blog.

For a while I was happy with my progress in Go, but recently my attention was divided and I started to neglect my studies. This has caused me to stall this year. I am determined to break
this blockage in the next year. The main approach i will use is make my studies more systematic. One way is to take the tons of sgfs I have and organise them using a database.
Another way is to keep a diary using this blog.

So stay tuned. I may not post as often as others do, but I hope that when I do, it will be worth reading.
